Durga Chalisa: Powerful

Here is the Durga Chalisa, a devotional prayer dedicated to Goddess Durga, the divine mother and the embodiment of power and protection. The Chalisa consists of 40 verses (chalisa) that glorify the virtues and qualities of Goddess Durga. Reciting the Durga Chalisa is believed to invoke Goddess Durga’s blessings and seek her divine grace.

दोहा:
नमो नमो दुर्गे सुख करनी।
नमो नमो अम्बे दुःख हरनी॥

चौपाई:
निरंकार है ज्योति तुम्हारी।
तिहूँ लोक फैली उजियारी॥
शशि ललाट मुख महाविशाला।
नेत्र लाल भृकुटी विकराला॥

रूप मातु को अधिक सुहावना।
दरश करत जन अति सुख पावना॥
तुम संसार शक्ति लय कीना।
पालन हेतु अन्न धन दीना॥

अन्नपूर्णे शदापूर्णे।
हरि त्रिगुणा रूप निराले॥
त्रिभुवन मंगल कारिणी।
ग्यान विक्यान देत भारी॥

गुण रूप नित्य सुखदायिनी।
जो ध्यावे तुम्हरा पाठ पावें॥
दुर्गा जी की आरती जो कोई नर गावे।
कहत शिवानन्द स्वामी, सुख संपत्ति पावे॥

तुम सागर रूप नरसिंही।
विपद उद्धारिणी जगदम्बे॥
तुम ही जग-माता हो भवानी।
तुम ही हो भवभानी॥

दुर्गा चालीसा जो पाठ करे।
सब सुख भोग परम पद पावे॥

तुम संसार की माता, पिता।
तुम ही हो भ्राता, सखा॥
मेरे सब कुछ हो तुम्हारी शरणा।
हाथ जोड़ चरण यहमारी लेता॥

दुर्गा चालीसा जो पाठ करे।
सब सुख भोग परम पद पावे॥

मातु जबहीं आवे, पट पर करे।
दुखन त्रास निवारे दुख हरे॥
सब सुख करे मातु निज धाम से।
सब रोग करे निवारे पीर से॥

जपत निरंतर हनुमान बाला।
ताकी सुखी भक्त होय विगला॥
संतन प्रतिपाल भये सदा सहाई।
दुःख क्षय करे निकट न आई॥

सुख संपत्ति विजयी विश्व विधाता।
लखि चौरासी जोग मोही खाता॥
तुम संकट हरो देवि शरणागती।
रखो लाज मातु जगदम्ब भगति॥

दुर्गा चालीसा जो पाठ करे।
सब सुख भोग परम पद पावे॥

मातरन जो जन दुःखी गरीब हो।
कहि से लगि तुमको फल चाहिये॥
कहें नरसिंह आतुर द्वारा।
दुख दारिद्री निवारो द्वारा॥

जो जन दरिद्री विद्वान कोई।
सोन को चाहे आवें कोई॥
भारत से अग्नि ज्वाला जो निकले।
आपहुं तेज डियो निपट निकले॥

Doha:
Salutations to you, O Durga, the bestower of happiness,
Salutations to you, O Amba, the remover of sorrow.

Chaupai:
You are formless and your light is divine,
Your radiance spreads across all three worlds.
With a crescent moon on your forehead,
Your eyes are red and your frown is fearsome.

Your form, O Mother, is exceedingly beautiful,
Seeing you, the devotees attain great joy.
You possess the power to create and sustain the world,
Providing food and wealth for its nourishment.

You are Annapurna, the provider of nourishment,
Perfect and complete in every way.
You bring auspiciousness to the three worlds,
Granting knowledge and wisdom abundantly.

You are the eternal source of virtues and happiness,
Those who meditate on you receive your blessings.
Whoever sings the Aarti of Goddess Durga,
Says Swami Shivananad, will attain happiness and wealth.

You are the fierce lioness, the ocean in human form,
The savior in times of distress, O Jagdamba.
You are the mother and father of the world,
You are the sister and friend to all.

I surrender everything to your refuge,
With folded hands, I take refuge in your divine feet.
Whoever recites the Durga Chalisa,
Enjoys all pleasures and attains the highest state.

You come to the rescue when called upon,
Dispelling pain and troubles.
You bring joy to your devotees,
And remove all afflictions and sufferings.

You bless with abundance and prosperity,
You are beyond the three Gunas, the creator of the universe.
Those who meditate on you with devotion,
Attain eternal happiness and the ultimate state.

You are the mother of the world, the protector,
You are Bhavani, the supreme goddess.
Whoever recites the Durga Chalisa,
Enjoys all pleasures and attains the highest state.

When you arrive and appear on the battlefield,
You eradicate sorrows and troubles.
You bring happiness and abundance from your divine abode,
And cure all ailments and sufferings.

Hanuman, the eternal devotee, continuously chants your name,
So that his devotees may find peace and happiness.
You protect and nurture your devotees,
And eliminate all their sorrows and troubles.

You bring happiness, wealth, and victory to the entire world,
You possess the divine knowledge of the eighty-four yogic postures.
You remove all obstacles and protect those who seek refuge,
Preserve our honor, O Jagdamba, with your devotion.

Whoever recites the Durga Chalisa,
Enjoys all pleasures and attains the highest state.
Mother, whoever is suffering and in distress,
Desires the fruits from you.
